Volker Schlöndorff – Die Fälschung

Filmgespräch und Screening der neu restaurierten Fassung.
BRD 1981, 110 min

There are few other German filmmakers that have been as successful with literary adaptations as Volker Schlöndorff. His film version of Günter Grass’s “Die Blechtrommel”, has even won the Oscar and the Palme d’Or. He has made several other literary works into films as well.

At LITFILMS, Volker Schlöndorff presents his Film “Die Fälschung” as a newly restored 4K version: War correspondent Georg Laschen roams the ruins of Beirut every night, experiencing the horrors of the Libanon Conflict. He is torn between his death wish and fascination for this city. When he meets Ariane, who works for the German Embassy, everything changes.

In the following discussion, we will address the still relevant topics as well as Schlöndorff’s lifelong passion for literature and film.
