Margaret Atwood: A Word After A Word After A Word Is Power

A Documentary by Nancy Lang & Peter Raymont.
USA 2019, 92 min, OV

Margaret Atwood has been a literary celebrity long before the award-winning series “A Handmaid’s Tale” which is based on her 1985 novel. Nevertheless, the novel’s most recent adaptation surely contributed to her fame once more. But what kind of person is the famous writer? Nancy Lang and Peter Raymont joined Atwood and her partner, Graeme Gibson, for about two years while traveling the world. The directors do not only document their travels but add personal photos, manuscripts and paintings as well as archived film material and interviews with family, friends and herself, of course.

Thus, they do not only create the portrait of an author but establish herself as a person impressing with her commitment, her broad knowledge and her sense of humor. She becomes approachable.
